Studies show that parents of obese children of early adolescents  are often unaware that their child’s weight is a problem. As children grow older, most parents feel a mixture of guilt, responsibility, and helplessness. Parents are more worried of comments by other family members, neighbors, and acquaintances and they often feel the pain their children go through  of teasing and ridicule in school.

Parents should worry about the effects of obesity in long run on health as obese children carry a higher risk than children of normal weight because of cardiovascular disease, bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, and low self-esteem. Childhood obesity is more likely to lead to overweight or obese adults.

Most parents make efforts to help their children, but may give up when efforts on weight loss prove unsuccessful. The relationship between parents and children can become strained as the issue grows larger, particularly if parents try to restrict certain types of foods or implement diet controlling methods in efforts to curb behavior.

The most important elements in helping a child to attain a normal weight revolve around diet, activity, and emotional support. This isn’t news to most parents. The challenge lies in figuring out just how to change lifestyle habits without getting into arguments and damaging a child’s self-esteem. Here are some tips from the experts:

Accept your child just as they are. Psychologists say this is the most important thing you can do. Otherwise, they will feel direct or implied disapproval which could undermine all your other attempts.to comment
Try not to make their weight loss a big challenge.Implement yoga as life style. Do not tempts to comment in front of friends and relatives.lo I Incorporate healthy food habits &  changes into your family’s daily activities as naturally as possible.
Realize you have more control than you think. Commit yourself to making small changes over time rather than large ones all at once.

Child Hood Obesity is serious concern.
Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health.

Childhood obesity is a medical condition that affects children and teenagers. Everyone has a body shape that is just right for him or her but sometimes we can store excessive body fat.
A healthy weight trajectory is where height and weight change proportionally together as children develop.

When children are off the healthy weight trajectory, their weight gain is disproportionate to their change in height, meaning the gain of body fat that can negatively impact his or her healthy development and health overall. If a child or adult stores too much fat they can be classified as overweight or obese. A sign of childhood obesity is a weight well above the average for a child’s height and age.

If left unchecked, research shows that these children are more likely to become obese adults and thus more likely to experience compromised health due to chronic disease, contributing to growing personal and health care costs.

Most childhood unhealthy weights are caused by children eating too much and not exercising enough. Societal trends have dramatically altered the nature of play and the way children interact with their environment.

These trends have included a significant decrease in outdoor recreation, sleep and healthy eating opportunities and now promote an increased dependence on electronic media and sedentary activities.

Researchers all over the globe have proved that not only does yoga help in reducing the stress and anxiety in a kid's life but also helps them improve their concentration levels.

It needs to be taught to children in a manner that they enjoy and should aim to focus their endeavors in a positive direction. Yoga helps children improve their overall personality, mental and emotional balance, and improve team player skills.

All of these skills will stand your child in good stead and help him or her navigate life's treacherous pathways successfully.

Child yoga not only benefits a child in achieving the required physical, mental, and emotional growth but also makes them adept at handling any stressful conditions in their life.

This work-life balance is as important to children as anyone of us, and yoga practice ensures it in many a ways. Yoga should be treated as an extra curricular activity aimed at children to make them learn how to deal better with life and its varying degrees of complexity by including a fun element which they can love and associate with.

We have introduced Yoga Protocol which is scientifically validated by yoga experts in rural and urban schools in Maharashtra
